Step 1
Set Up for Success
Before practicing, make sure your setup removes the common frustrations that slow beginners down.

Compressors
Use one that can deliver at least 20–28 PSI. Anything weaker and your blends won’t flow smoothly.

Paint & Thinner
Use the matching thinner and cleaner for your paint brand. If you’re unsure, start with a 1:1.

Paint Amount
Less is more. For example, to prime a miniature, you only need around 5 drops paint + 5 drops thinner.

Airbrush Choice
The Ultra’s trigger system enforces the correct “down–back–forward–up” rhythm, so you build muscle memory without fighting the mechanics.
Step 2
Core Drills to Train Control
Each of these exercises builds one of the three essential skills: trigger control, distance, and movement speed.
Exercise 1: The Dot Drill – Clean Starts & Stops
- Aim at paper.
- Press down for air → pull back slightly for paint → push forward → release.
- Practice until you can place neat dots exactly where you aim.
- The Ultra helps by locking the trigger sequence — you can’t pull back without pressing down first.

Exercise 2: The Intensity Line — Flow Awareness
- Move the brush steadily across paper.
- Slowly pull back the trigger.
- Watch the line shift from diffuse → intense → diffuse as you control flow.

Exercise 3: The Ramp — Controlled Transitions
- Spray a line that starts soft, builds to a solid center, then fades out.
- Focus on synchronizing trigger pull + hand speed + distance.
